United Polaris is the carrier’s international business class product, serving over 120 long-haul destinations from its US hubs at Newark, San Francisco, Chicago O’Hare, and Houston. The flagship Polaris seat is a direct-aisle-access lie-flat pod in a 1-2-1 configuration on 777-300ER and 787-10 aircraft. Seats are 22 inches wide with 78 inches of pitch and convert to a flat bed with Saks Fifth Avenue bedding including a gel-cooled pillow and duvet. The 767-300ER uses a 2-1-2 layout where window passengers lack direct aisle access—avoid these aircraft when possible.

Dining and service

Polaris dining features multi-course meals designed with input from celebrity chefs. Expect options like seared short rib, poached salmon, and ice cream sundae service. Pre-departure beverages include champagne. The wine programme is curated by Master Sommelier Doug Frost. Service quality varies by crew but has improved markedly since the Polaris rebrand.

United operates dedicated Polaris Lounges at Newark, San Francisco, Chicago O’Hare, Houston, Los Angeles, and Washington Dulles.
